Collegiate 4-H

Claire | August 23rd, 2007 at 12:06 pm

College is back in swing! Even though Morgantown traffic is back to normal, i.e. crazy, I can’t help but be excited for students with crisp new notebooks finding their classrooms amidst the maze of hallways. Back in my whippersnapper days (2002-06,) I was part of a club that became more and more a part of my college experience each year. With autonomy from full-fledged adults we took on more responsibility, surprising ourselves with what we could pull-off. We had an amazing club and I’m happy to report this year sounds like it’s going to be an incredible time too.

If you are in college you should definitely check to see if your school has a collegiate 4-H club. There are a host of activities that reach from social to service. National Conventions (National Collegiate Club of the Year during my presidency- a-hem! a-thank-you,) Host Weekends, and other events- big and small- will engage you. You will create a network that is loyal and far reaching, even after you become an alumnus/alumna. I guarantee becoming an active member of a collegiate club will enrich your semesters!

WVU Collegiate 4-H Club’s first meeting is August 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Greenbrier room of the Mountainlair.

Check out your student organizations service, facebook, and other networking groups to find information on 4-H at your college! And if it isn’t there- create it!

Appreciate, lead, love, succeed,

Claire Brown
