ECI: The Job of Champions!

Melville | July 6th, 2007 at 1:13 pm

Ok, so I’m all rested up, been home for a few days and missing 4H so I figure I’ll blog about it to make me feel good inside.

Last week was my first week on the job as an VCA">ECI. Its pretty much like VCA’ing…...but we get paid more now and a few other perks.

But what I’m trying to get at here, is that its “da bomb.” Marion County was great. The staff made it the easiest job ever because they had already taken care of so much. This made the job great but I’m almost afraid that they’ve spoiled me and my other camps won’t be as enjoyable.

The kids at Marion were amazing. I knew a good handful of the campers beforehand and they were a great help and all of the other campers made me feel right at home from the very first day. Like I said all week, it was just like being a camper with some perks and a little responsibility added in.

I worked with Mary Beth Long and she made the week great too. (SHOUT OUT!!!) Mary Beth was really good about doing the small responsible stuff that is pretty vital to the camp happening while I was often busy extreme frolicking or playing taking part in one of the many many Sons Of Job remixes.

I also got to team teach charting at Marion and it was really amazing. It was really cool to get to know this kids so well in one week. I know that all of the Charters are well on there way to being wonderful, fun, well rounded young adults.

Overall, the experience was amazing and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. ECI’ing this year is one of the greatest things I’ve done and will definitely be something I’ll look back on forever.

You under-rate yourself, dear Mel! I’m sure you were more vaulable than just an extra camper with a sprinkle of responsibility!~ Charting is a huge experience for campers and takes a good bit of prep to lead a good class. How-How to you and all the ECIs!

Hey Mel! I’m hoping this is Mel Johnson, but if it’s not, completely disregard this comment. I was at OMC the night we sat on the porch and you and Timmy and a few other people played music for what seemed like forever. That was amazing! I just wanted you to know how AWESOME that was and that was byfar my favorite thing from OMC this year. If you’re available for my 16th birthday party, definately let me know! lol
