West Virginia State 4-H Shooting Sports Ambassador Program
Hi! I’m Angela Post, your West Virginia State 4-H Shooting Sports Ambassador. You’re saying, “What is that?” Well, let me tell you.
My job is to promote the 4-H shooting sports program in our state.
How did I get this position?
Well, I applied for it. If you are actively involved in a shooting sports program for at least three years and are 15 years old, you can also apply. Look for the application and all other information about the 4-H shooting sports ambassador program on the National 4-H Shooting Sports Foundation website at www.4-hshootingsports.org.
What shooting sports program?
Forty-five West Virginia counties have certified instructors in at least some of the seven disciplines offered nationally: air rifle/air pistol, smallbore rifle/pistol, shotgun, muzzleloader, archery, and hunting skills. Some counties only offer shooting sports activities at camp but that’s not saying that you couldn’t ask to have a club and/or other shooting sports disciplines in your county.
What will I be doing?
One activity will be participating in the Hunting & Fishing Youth Day in September at Stonewall Jackson Lake. I am also available to speak about the 4-H shooting sports program to your county, club or other group.
I attended the national training in Rapid City, South Dakota during the National 4-H Shooting Sports invitational, June 24-29th.
