Cuttin' A Rug!!!
Tad Light in this piece, and I’m here to tell ya: I nearly destroyed the dance floor tonight with my out-of-sight moves. But we’ll get to that later…....
Today was a pretty awesome day, even by OMC standards for me. Everything was just ultra-smooth. It was as if the cottage meditations that happened last night (that I reported on in my last blog) had loosened everyone up a bit. On top of the more laid-back atmosphere, all the meals were superb! We had some SWEEEEET biscuits and gravy for breakfast, then tacos for lunch, and finally for dinner we had some roast beef with sides of mashed taters (that’s right, I said ‘taters’) and green beans. The dinner also happened to be the “Informal” Banquet. I put “informal” in quotations because it’s very much a formal banquet. I happened to be one of the few that forgot his dress clothes this week, so I was lookin’ a little out of place. It’s a good thing that the Sagamores didn’t have to sit at the head table, because I woulda looked like a fool.
Now on to the fun part of the evening – THE DAAAAAAAANCE!!!! YEEEEEEE-HAW!!!!!!!!
We got off to a pretty rocky start, because the DJ apparently forgot to show up. However, being resourceful as we 4-Her’s are, we pulled it together and got a DJ to come on INCREDIBLY short notice. This was awesome. I only had one beef with this instant dj, and that was that he only played about 2 slow songs. That’s nonsense everyone. NONSENSE I SAY!! I think that at least every few fast ones you’ve gotta switch up the pace and slow thangs doowwn.
Speaking of the dancing, I hardly left the floor. I had a lovely and beautiful dance partner and we GOT DOWN ON THE FLO’!! Her name is Logan, by the way. SHOUT-OUT!
So anyway, we proceeded to dance our hinies off, and had a wonderful time. I think it was one of the best camp dances I’ve been to, considering the circumstances.
Thinking about how good this day has been causes me to really reflect on how good OMC as a whole is this week. We started off a little bit rocky, but everyone has pulled it together incredibly well. It’s as if the 4-H spirit has just taken over camp. For those of you who don’t understand what I’m talking about, I wish you could. The feelings of togetherness and love that you get at a camp like OMC are indescribable to a certain extent. I can tell you all about the warm fuzzy feelings I get here at camp, but my words will always fall short of truly describing the way it feels.
I wish everyone could feel the way I do right now.
Tomorrow is the last full day of camp, and it’s killing me. I’ve a lot on my plate tomorrow to accomplish before I get outta this place. Wish me luck!
